Paying It Forward For Kelly...

The Agoura Hills Shelter in Southern California was my home for almost 9 months. The volunteers there were so good to me, and even one volunteer would bring me a plain bacon cheeseburger sometimes!  Even though I was loved by everyone at the shelter, they all wanted me to find my forever home.  So, when I was pulled from the shelter and whisked away on an airplane to my new home, they were worried about me at first, but then happy for me when they found out how wonderful my life was going to be from now on with my new family.

The shelter made a video about my rescue that I would like to share with you.  After you watch it, I need to ask for a favor... Please share it with everyone you know to raise awareness of the thousands and thousands of dogs still waiting in shelters across America to find their homes too.  I am one of the lucky ones... Together, we can save even more...

"In a world full of people who couldn't care less, be someone who couldn't care more"

Please share this video to save a life...

I Arrived Safely In My New Home State!

I am getting closer to my forever home!  I was met at the airport by some amazing people who are going to take care of me for a while until I go to my forever home!  I am pretty tired from the flight, but very happy to be here!  What an exciting adventure!

I Don't Know Where I Am Going, But I Am On My Way!

They tell me that I am leaving on a jet plane, and definitely won't be back to the shelter again, so off I go up into the wild blue yonder!  I hear that I am going to stay with a family for a while to get me acclimated, and they have 7 dogs!  I am a little nervous, but I know everything is going to be okay, because there are so many people looking out for me.  So, here I go!

During the flight, people were tracking my flight and could see where my plane was at all times!  How cool was that?!

Guess What? I Got Rescued!

Can you believe it?  Somebody, well I think over 100 people saw my picture on the internet and fell in love with me!!!  I never got this much attention at the shelter!  Usually, no one even stopped by my cage!  I was getting more and more depressed each day at the shelter, and the volunteers there were getting worried about me.  Then a couple of days ago a nice girl named Amie came to the shelter and met me.  You know what happened next?  She sprung me!!!  She had a plan for me, a new life for me, a chance to be loved and cherished forever...  Stay tuned for the next chapter of my journey to my forever home!

When Is It My Turn?

My name is Kelly, and I have been at the Agoura Hills Shelter for 6 months.  There have been many dogs that have passed through here that have found their forever homes, two that didn't get along with other dogs, but found homes anyway! No one even takes a moment to stop by my cage or take me out in the play area to get to know me better.  I just don't understand why... When is it my turn?

Take a look at my video and see all of my tricks and how attentive I am.  You will also see how much I love people and love to play!  I used to live with 2 small dogs and a cat, and did great, but the shelter life has broken me down a little, and I am out of practice because I spend so much time alone, so I would need an experienced dog owner that would be able to help me out with my social skills when introducing me to other dogs.

You see, I am on borrowed time here at the shelter.  If they need my cage, I will lose my life, so it is a pretty urgent situation that I find a home soon.  You can help by sharing my blog so my family will find me.

They Won't Keep Me Forever...

Hi my name is Kelly, and I am on borrowed time and very Urgent at the Agoura Hills Shelter. I have been here the longest, and when they have to make room for other dogs that have been abandoned by their families, I will be killed.

I was brought to the shelter about 6 months ago, after none of my 3 owners took the time to research and understand my breed and my needs, but rather thought it was just easier to take me to the shelter rather than train me.  This is the reason why we have overcrowded shelters... This is the reason that so many die here...

It is time for people to take responsibility and realize that dogs are living breathing amazing companions with feelings who love unconditionally, and much too often people dispose of us like garbage. I have been one of those dogs that has been tossed aside.

Please help me find a home. I am energetic, playful and love people. I have lived with 2 small dogs and a cat, but being in a shelter environment has made me a little out of practice with my manners with other dogs. I need someone that will be devoted to train and re-socialize me with love and patience.

If you want to know more about me, please contact pekingattheboard@aol.com

Kelly Is Looking For A Forever Friend To The End...

Kelly has been adopted 3 times and returned because none of his adopters did the research on his breed to know the level of energy he has.  One adopter thought the answer was to keep him on "doggie downers".  Kelly has been through so much, by no fault of his own.  Kelly is loved by all of the volunteers at the shelter, and they want so badly for him to find a forever home. He is playful, smart, attentive and tons of fun!

Kelly needs someone that understands him, will accept him for who he is, and devote the time to train him, to give him the best chance at becoming the phenomenal dog he is meant to be. Kelly deserves to spend the rest of his life as a loved and cherished family member, but currently, Kelly resides at the Agoura Hills Shelter in California and is Urgent!

A Plea For Kelly To Save His Life

Kelly, an 8 year old German Wirehaired Pointer mix, has been at the Agoura Shelter far too long. He would love to find his forever home, especially after losing his last home of 6 years.

Being in a County Shelter, he wouldn't mind making a pit stop over to rescue, though would love for the rescue to use foster homes, as he has already spent so much time in a kennel.

Please share Kelly's video in hopes of finding that special someone. If you have any questions, please email Pekingattheboard@aol.com and put Kelly A4134362 in the subject.

Kelly is currently residing at the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control, Agoura Hills, California.

If You See A Friend Without A Smile, Give Him One Of Yours...

Kelly, A4134362 is still alive and still VERY URGENT!  Kelly has been at the shelter the longest, and as the Shelter takes in new dogs he will be the first to be PTS to make room.

Kelly is a beautiful German Wirehaired Pointer Mix.  He may be 8 years old, but he is still very playful, and acts like a puppy. He is a smart, lively energetic boy that is very trainable. He is healthy, and weighs about 50 to 60 lbs. He has many years ahead of him and needs to get out of the shelter as soon as possible.

Here are some things you should know about Kelly:

He loves to run, play, fetch some toys and run some more.
He loves to play in the water.
He thrives on vigorous exercise.
He is housebroken.
He will do well with older children.

He may be best as an only dog, although he has lived with two small dogs and a cat, but being in the shelter for so long and isolated, he will need an experienced owner that can carefully re-introduce and work on his socialization with other dogs and cats.

Kelly needs a devoted adopter with experience with high energy breeds to train Kelly so that he can become the dog he is meant to be. None of his previous owners had any knowledge about this breed, or took the time to learn how to handle his energy.  Rather than do the research to train him or get a trainer, they surrendered him to the shelter.

Please help us find Kelly a forever home!

Kelly's Story...

Hi, my name is Kelly, and I am an 8 year old German Wirehaired Pointer Mix.  Right now I reside at the Agoura Hills Shelter in California, but before I came to the shelter I had a home.  In fact, I had 3 homes!

I was first adopted by a woman that saw me at an adoption event when I was about 2 years old.  She took me home, and I had an instant family with two small dogs and a cat!  We got along splendidly for 6 years, but I had too much energy for her to handle, so she took me to the shelter.

I was then adopted by someone that had a huge horse ranch and a cat! When she came to pick me up from the shelter, she brought a friend with her and the car didn't have a back seat or a place for me to sit.  I had to sit on the floor of the front seat, but I didn't care, because I was going to my forever home!  Well, that is what I thought... I got along fine with the cat, but I had never seen horses before, and didn't do so well with them, so back to the shelter I went.

Then one day, a young girl came to meet me, and decided to take me home!  I think she surprised her parents who I am not sure were that happy to see me. I was only there for a short while, because the girl was moving and couldn't take me with her, and I couldn't stay with her parents, so I am sure you know what happened next...

Well, I am still here, 6 months later, still waiting for my FOREVER home.

It seems that none of my owners did any research on my breed to know that I am high energy.  Instead one of my owners gave me doggie downers rather than satisfy my energy with exercise and training. I am not a bad dog.  I love to play, I love to swim and I love people.  I would make a great running buddy!

I have been set up for failure a few times.  Not intentionally, but I really need someone with the experience and patience that it takes to understand me... to train me... to devote the time to help me become the dog I am meant to be.  I am very smart, attentive and want to please, which makes me very trainable.

My friends at the shelter say that I walk the grounds nicely and I don't seem to care about the dogs in the play yard when walking by them.  I do pull which can be corrected with proper training, but mostly I am just happy to be out on a walk, enjoying being out of my kennel and sniffing everything around me.

I love to play in the pool.  This is one thing I really enjoy along with toys, but I like the pool more.

I did live with two small dogs in my first home and a cat and did great!  Since then, I have been in a kennel environment which can add a great amount of stress, so when I meet a new dog in the play yard, I get overly excited and can be overwhelming at times which has sometimes been interpreted as a sign of aggression.

I really need to find a home with someone that would devote the time to train me and help me with my socialization skills and not give up on me.  With the proper corrections, I know that I would be able to overcome the need to be so overwhelming when meeting another dog and be able to live with them in harmony as I did with my first family.

The shelter is not the place for me.  It is confusing and scary.  I spend my days just laying in my kennel hoping that the person walking up to my kennel will take me home.

You see, my time is running out.  I have overstayed my welcome here, and when they have to make room for new dogs, I will be the first to be PTS.  I am only 8 years young, healthy and I don't want to die in the shelter.  I want to be given a chance to be loved and be a part of a family. When I am sleeping, I am dreaming of that day...

Please share my blog and my video.  Please help me find my forever home before it's too late...

You can find me at the Agoura Hills Shelter 29525 Agoura Road Agoura, Ca.  91301 (818) 991-0071.  Please e-mail PekingAtTheBoard@aol.com for more information.
